Meet Steven B. Kupferman, DMD, MD

Steven B. Kupferman, DMD, MD

Dr. Kupferman is a board-certified physician Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon. He attended dental school at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts and medical school at the UCLA School of Medicine in Los Angeles, California. He completed his internship in General Surgery and three additional years in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at what is now the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center.

As a young surgeon, Dr. Kupferman was recruited by the well-known Southern California Permanente Medical Group's (Kaiser Permanente) Maxillofacial Surgery Department where he served as an associate for two years. In addition to maintaining a busy corrective jaw surgery and facial trauma practice, Dr. Kupferman was instrumental in developing a thriving practice of skeletal surgery for obstructive sleep apnea. Having been sought after for his expertise and minimally invasive techniques, Dr. Kupferman decided to bring his skills to the community and open his practice in Century City.

In 2010, Dr. Kupferman recruited his long time friend and colleague, Dr. Benjamin Walline. Together, they have both served as part-time faculty members at the UCLA School of Dentistry where they have helped facilitate the Combined Orthognathic Surgery Conference training graduate-level surgeons and orthodontists.

Dr. Kupferman is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS) and a Fellow of the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (AAOMS). He has lectured extensively on numerous topics including dental implants, orthognathic surgery, osteomyelitis, sinus grafting, TMJ surgery, and obstructive sleep apnea.

Dr. Kupferman has rapidly developed one of the most sophisticated and scientifically based full-scope oral and maxillofacial surgery practices on the west coast, treating patients from all over the U.S. and abroad.
